The Christian faith is not a mere religion but an invitation to partake in Zoe life, the uncreated life of God shared among the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This divine calling transforms believers into new creations in Christ, born of God’s incorruptible seed, and equipped to reign in life through righteousness. By understanding and embracing this divine identity, believers can partner with God to overcome sin, sickness, and oppression, fulfilling His purpose as mature sons and daughters.
A New Creation with Divine Nature
Scripture reveals that believers are born of God (John 1:12-13). This new birth through Christ’s resurrection imparts a living hope, making believers partakers of divine nature (1 Peter 1:3, 2 Peter 1:4). Unlike Adam, who was neutral but not perfect, believers possess Zoe life—the uncreated life once in the tree of life (2 Corinthians 5:17). This divine kind means the born-again spirit cannot sin, as God’s seed remains within (1 John 3:9). Just as a human baby is fully human, believers are fully divine, bone of Christ’s bone, flesh of His flesh (Ephesians 5:30). The creation of Eve from Adam’s side mirrors how Christ, the last Adam, was “put to sleep” through death to birth the church from His pierced side, uniting believers to Him in perfect union. This divine identity is not figurative but a reality that expels nonsense—sin, sickness, or wrong attitudes—from life when embraced.
Reigning Over Sin, Sickness, and Oppression
Like slaves unaware of the Emancipation Proclamation, many believers remain bound by sin, sickness, or poverty because they don’t know their freedom in Christ. The good news is not future prophecy but the reality of what Christ has already accomplished (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Believers are not just declared righteous like Abraham; they are made the righteousness of God, with a changed nature (Romans 5:17). Established in this righteousness, oppression, fear, and terror flee, as promised in Isaiah 54:14. Through Christ’s obedience, justification of life comes to all who receive the gift of righteousness, enabling them to reign in Zoe life (Romans 5:18, 21). The law of the Spirit of life in Christ sets believers free from sin and death, rendering these irrelevant (Romans 8:2). When this truth takes root, believers walk in authority, knowing that anything contrary to God’s life is illegal and must leave.
Partnership and Maturity
God seeks partnership with believers, as seen in His creation of Adam for collaboration, not solo action. Using a cricket analogy, heaven (the pavilion) is not the goal; the mission is to stay on the ground, hitting the winning shot against the last enemy, death. The match is fixed in believers’ favor, with victory assured through scripture, but it requires serious engagement with the Word of God to play the game well. Psalms 82:6 declares believers as gods, yet those ignorant of their divine identity die like mere men. Spiritual maturity moves believers from babes (nepios), unskilled in righteousness (Hebrews 5:13), to mature sons (huios), led by the Spirit into all truth (Romans 8:14). Creation eagerly awaits these mature sons to manifest God’s purposes, defeating death and fulfilling His plan (Romans 8:19, 23). Christianity is an invitation to Zoe life, not a ritual, demanding believers take their new creation reality seriously to remove reproach from God’s name and reign in eternal life.
A Call to Embrace Your Divine Identity
The Christian journey is a call to embrace your divine identity as a new creation born of God, not a passive ticket to heaven. Are you living as a babe, crying for milk, or as a mature son, wielding the righteousness of God to reign in life? Will you partner with God, staying on the ground to hit the winning shot, or remain in the pavilion, distracted by temporary comforts? The law of the Spirit of life has set you free—why manifest death when Zoe life flows within you? Let these truths challenge you to meditate on the Word of God, reject what’s illegal in your life, and step into the divine partnership that transforms the world.
